Amla, Shikakai & Reetha: The Original Natural Shampoo
If you want to wash your hair without sulphates, silicones or synthetic foaming agents, the answer is a trio your grandmother probably knew well: amla, shikakai and reetha.
The three that work together
Amla (Indian gooseberry) is rich in vitamin C — it strengthens roots and deepens natural colour.
Shikakai is a mild, low-pH cleanser that washes without stripping natural oils, leaving hair soft and detangled.
Reetha (soapnut) contains natural saponins that create a gentle lather to lift away dirt.
Used together, they cleanse, condition and strengthen in one wash — a complete shampoo, made by nature.
How to wash with the trio
Mix 2–3 tablespoons of the blended powder with warm water into a thin paste (or soak overnight and strain for a liquid wash).
Massage into wet hair and scalp for a soft lather.
Leave for a few minutes, then rinse thoroughly.
It won't foam like a chemical shampoo — that's normal, and it's a good thing.
What to expect
Your scalp may take a couple of weeks to adjust as it rebalances its natural oils. Stick with it and you'll be rewarded with softer, shinier, healthier hair.
